Dachshund 'used for breeding' found abandoned alone in alleyway

Breeding bitch was still lactating when she was found alone in the middle of the night

A breeding bitch was found dumped alone in an alley in the middle - still lactating milk for her absent puppies.

Dachshund Dolly - as she’s been named by her rescuers - was found by a member of the public at around 3am on Monday (19 August) in an alley off Wymington High Street, Northamptonshire.

She’d been left in a small, metal dog crate with a red fleece blanket and a water bowl.

Ex ‘puppy machine’ crowned Best in Show

2015 marks the second annual RSPCA Ruffs, the charity’s alternative online dog show which challenges the ideals of beauty pageant style dog shows. Unlike Crufts which judges dogs primarily on looks which can cause suffering, Ruffs is a true celebration of dogs.
Ruffs doesn’t care what a dog looks like, what shape, size or colour they are - there are no ‘standards’ to be met, it just cares whether dogs are healthy, happy and above all loved.

So what do you think of the Independent Inquiry into Dog Breeding?

Okay, this one is going to cause disagreement and discord, but will it do any good for dogs in the long run? Enforced microchipping is controversial, but I can't help thinking it would solve many problems - dog theft not the least of them. It would of course also allow the tracing of dogs back to breeders, so if health issues keep cropping up with dogs from a particular source, it will be evident and provable. Puppy farms are an obvious evil and must be stamped out one way or another.
