Dave and Finn have supported each other

Finn saved Dave Wardell's life when they were attacked by a criminal with a knife. Dave set up The Thin Blue Paw Foundation with Gemma Wardell and Kieran Stanbridge to help retired police dog live happy, healthy lives.

Police dogs allow us to live our lives smoothly and safely - but for many of them, there is no financial support in retirement, so Gemma and Dave Wardell and Kieran Stanbridge founded The Thin Blue Paw Foundation to provide the support they need. It's often said that rescue dogs rescue their owner right back, and writer and journalist Sharon Ward Keeble has witnessed the power of that love firsthand, as well as in writing her book, My Rescue Pet Rescued Me.

The search is on the nation’s su-paw heroes!

The Thin Blue Paw Foundation – a national welfare charity that supports and celebrates working and retired police dogs – is hosting its inaugural awards this year and is looking for inspirational tails of bravery and heart-warming stories of dogs who have dedicated their lives to keeping the public safe.

The Thin Blue Paw Awards, supported by Animal Friends Pet Insurance, will be taking place on 14th September in Hertfordshire to celebrate the achievements of the country’s four-legged heroes.
