Couple banned from keeping animals hid obese Rottweiler

A couple banned from keeping animals were found to be keeping a dog who had become overweight as a result of not being walked - because they were scared of being found out.

Anthony Makin (DOB 16/01/75) and Sally Makin (DOB 01/01/75), of Dale Avenue, Bromborough, were sentenced at Wirral Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday 4 October) after pleading guilty to two offences at a previous hearing - causing unnecessary suffering to the dog by failing to provide veterinary care for lameness, and being in breach of a disqualification order.

Keeping cool in the heat

As the heatwave (by UK standards anyway!) continues in Britain, our dogs are feeling the heat just as much as we are. Here are some lovely photos of a couple of Battersea residents cooling off.

Lucky Max, a Rottweiler, is cooling off in a paddling pool, while mixed-breed Indi is tucking into an iced dog treat. It's unbelievable that while some of us are going to great lengths to ensure our dogs don't overheat, some irresponsible owners are still leaving dogs in hot cars.

Dogs die in hot cars - surely the message should have got through by now? Here's a link to a blogpost I wrote
