In honour of the Oscars on 4 March 2018, residents of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home have re-imagined themselves as famous film stars, so that they too can earn a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Our leading ladies and dashing gents are hoping to leave their pawprints in the hearts and homes of new owners – can they reach the same heights of stardom of their namesakes?

Golden oldies looking for love

It can take longer to rehome an older animal in RSPCA care but the animal welfare charity is highlighting the benefits of adopting one of our Golden Oldies.

Figures show it takes about two weeks to rehome young dogs and cats (under six months old), but it takes more than THREE times longer to rehome dogs and more than TWICE as long to rehome cats aged over three.

Battersea dogs are hoping their luck will change this Chinese New Year

It’s the start of the Chinese New Year on Friday 16 February 2018 and it’s the Year of the Dog, much to the delight of some of the residents at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. These dogs are looking for a new home and they’re hoping it’s going to be their year.

In the Chinese Zodiac, it is said that those born in the Year of the Dog are sincere, reliable, intelligent, brave and always ready to help others, and these are just some of the traits that come naturally to these four dogs.

Wylie is an affectionate boy who is looking to move out of kennel life and into a new home with his owners.

Burnt dog’s scars are healing, thanks to Battersea

Badly burnt and terrified, Staffordshire Bull Terrier Justine was in a horrific state when she arrived at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
The four-year-old was found wandering London’s streets, and brought into Battersea on 20 November 2017 with a nasty wound on her back. Even the charity’s most-seasoned staff were shocked by the gaping raw burn.

But, after weeks of care by Battersea’s vets and dog behaviourists, four-year-old Justine’s life is looking up and she has found her happy ending – with Tanya Martin and her family in London.
