Parts of England were submerged in snowdrifts and in other corners of the country the temperature had dropped to -13C. So when a tiny six-week-old terrier puppy was found dumped in a cardboard box in Manchester it was a miracle the vulnerable baby had survived.

The RSPCA has launched an urgent fundraising appeal to pay for life-saving surgery for a little puppy in Yorkshire.

Snoop was rescued by the charity earlier this month when his owners were unable to afford his ongoing veterinary costs.

The 10-week-old pup has been at the RSPCA’s Doncaster & Rotherham branch for two weeks.
