Pet loss support

Annalisa de Carteret is Pet Loss Support Manager at Blue Cross, and in this honest and open interview, she and Julie discuss how painful it is to lose your dog, but that there is no need to grieve alone, and there is help available.

The worst aspect of pet ownership is that the vast majority of pets don't live as long as we do. This means loving and losing our beloved companion animals. And losing them is brutal.

The heart-breaking news that Lewis Hamilton’s much-loved bulldog, Roscoe, has passed away resonates with pet owners everywhere.

His openness in sharing his grief shines an important light on a subject many still struggle to talk about.

While Hamilton has spoken publicly, many people, particularly men, feel they can’t express their grief or seek help, even from their employers. Yet the bond we share with our pets is profound and losing them can feel every bit as painful as losing a family member.

if you need help with grief, visit the Blue Cross website. You can call them on 0800 096 6606 or visit their Facebook Blue Cross Pet Loss Support Community.
