We all know that dogs have an amazing sense of smell, but did you know that that acute scenting ability can be harnessed to conserve wildlife? Well Louise Viljoen is doing just that. She has been training and working alongside a variety of detection dogs for many years, and now has her own company, Conservation K9 Consultancy, focusing on wildlife detection dogs.

Hers is a fantastic story of a woman succeeding in a traditionally male world, and a hugely competitive one at that. She chooses to work mainly with rescue dogs, and this interview gives a fascinating insight into her training methods, and the impressive range of wildlife that her dogs are helping preserve and study. To find out more about Louise and her dogs, visit her Facebook page or her Twitter feed.
