Epilepsy project

This episode is all about a fascinating, SFI-funded research project , currently underway at DCU in partnership with Epilepsy Ireland. The study investigates the possibility of training dogs to predict epileptic seizures and using AI to mimic their sensory capabilities. This research is truly unique: combining animal behavior, neuroscience, and wearable tech. It is in collaboration with Epilepsy Ireland

The technology involved is able to send alerts that there is an epileptic seizure in progress, as well as the location of the event. The combination of dogs and Ai can offer a sense of security and peace of mind to those living with epilepsy as well as their friends and family.

Dr Shelley Brady tells host Julie about the project, how the science is valued, but the human experience is also taken into account. You can find out more at Linked In or at X and you can contact Shelley here.
