Weather for dogs?

I’ve just been reading on the internet about the dog show going on in Blackpool yesterday. Apparently the winds were so strong that the tent blew down. Fortunately, most owners and dogs had been evacuated by then, although from some accounts there was confusion about what was going on. To read what I’ve been reading, visit the Champdogs site, (www.champdogsforum.co.uk/) and go to the showing section.
We were enjoying a summer visit to the Derbyshire County Show today, which included a dog show. At one point showing in all the rings was suspended after a tent pole in one of the huge marquees broke. These are hefty poles, so it was obviously under a lot of pressure to break like that. The team worked fast, and two marquees were swiftly brought down, after which showing resumed. It was all very British; even after the marquee was evacuated, and showing was suspended, we all stood calmly watching, directly in the path of the big tent should the wind manage to take hold of it. Again, happily I have no reports of dogs or people injured in the event.
Still it was the Summer Solstice on Friday –we should have known it would be all down hill from there!
Look after yourselves and you dogs,
