Team GB Paralympic swimmer Emma Hollis visits Dogs Trust Loughborough

THE ‘PAWFECT’ TRAINING
Team GB Paralympic swimmer Emma Hollis visits Dogs Trust Loughborough

On Friday 17th August, Team GB Paralympic swimmer Emma Hollis took a break from her training for the games to visit the Wymeswold-based rehoming centre. Whilst there she met dogs of all shapes and sizes including Bess the seven year-old Lurcher who she took a particular shine too.

Says Emma:
“Unfortunately as I’m away at University I can’t have dogs of my own so I sponsor one at Dogs Trust, but when I found out there was a centre so close to me I just had to visit. I can see this being the first of many visits, I’m now starting to think if there is any way I can get them involved in my training and make me have a reason to visit them lots!”

Says Ella Tonge, Dogs Trust Loughborough Supporter Relations Officer, who took Emma around the Wymeswold centre:
“We were all absolutely delighted to welcome Emma to the centre and hope to see a lot more of her in the future and if they dogs could they would be cheering her along in the next few weeks. She also kindly agreed to be the head judge at the Fun Dog Show at our Doggy Sports Day on 30th September where we’ll hopefully see the dogs flexing their sporting muscles!”

If you would like to do your bit to help, the team is currently collecting items for the tombola and raffle at the Doggy Sports Day. If you have anything you think might be suitable drop it into Ella at the rehoming centre: Hill Farm, Wide Lane, Wymeswold, Loughborough, LE12 6SE.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and Dogs Trust Loughborough is the newest rehoming centre to open its doors and takes the total to 18 in the UK and one in Dublin. Collectively all the centres care for over 16,000 abandoned and unwanted dogs a year. If you would like to help rehome any of the dogs currently at Dogs Trust Loughborough please contact 01509 880 070 or pop in and see the team. www.dogstrust.org.uk
