First-aid first-of-its-kind event

Would you know what to do if your dog had a medical emergency? Apparently April is National Pet First-Aid Awareness Month in the US, and I've been contacted by Denise Fleck, an
Instructor/Free-lance Writer at
SUNNY-DOG INK who runs pet first aid classes. Now she is organising a huge CPR event to educate pet owners. You can find out a lot more about the event, classes on offer, and Denise herself at her website. Sounds like a good idea - just too far for me to travel!

There's more information below about the event, and if you do attend, let me know how you get on.

Did you know that 92% of dogs and cats will experience an emergency during their lifetimes? Veterinarians are the experts, but they are generally not on the scene when an emergency occurs, so Pet Parents must be able to react effectively and confidently before professional medical care is available. That is why we are organizing THE LARGEST GATHERING EVER OF HUMANS TO LEARN ANIMAL LIFE-SAVING SKILLS at our pawsTRONOMICAL PET CPR EVENT this April!

All proceeds benefit the Volunteers of The Burbank Animal Shelter, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to the care of animals at the Burbank Shelter and the education of the community regarding proper animal care and adoption.

Along with gaining valuable skills such as what to do should their dog or cat choke, suddenly stop breathing or experience cardiac arrest, Pet Parents will learn important information from Veterinarian Martin Small, hear animal rescue stories and be entertained by a parade of four-legged stars who hope to find their own forever homes. Animal Care Instructor & Author Denise Fleck (Groomer Has It, Lassie’s Pet Vet) will teach how to check a pet’s vitals, basic Pet First-Aid, Choking Management, Rescue Breathing & CPR skills on specialized canine and feline mannekins.
