Episode 79 of DogCast Radio - the Christmas Show

Episode 79 of DogCast Radio is now available, and it’s our Christmas episode.

Beverley Cuddy, publisher and editor of magazine Dogs Today, talks about a charity that’s close to her heart, Tailwaggers. (www.tailwaggersclubtrust.com ) Despite being small, this charity is often the only means of help to some dog and cat owners. Tailwaggers offers the personal touch, and can consider every case on its individual merits. The story they often discover behind the issue with the dog can be incredibly touching.

As Beverley points out, if you’re going to donate to a charity, giving to a smaller charity will make a bigger difference than giving to a more established one. It’s worth thinking about.

The other interviewee in the show is Cynthia Miller. She wants us to change the way we think about rescue dogs. To that end she has made the song Rescue Dog Rock, which has an accompanying video, featuring a variety of charming rescue dogs. Cynthia shares her life with two Maltese dogs, Lulu and Lolly, who have their own website - www.luluandlolly.com – and raise money for charity.

Cynthia was wonderful to interview, as she has a natural talent for looking at things in a unique way, which is extremely interesting. She is a great example of an individual being inspired to act, and having their actions make a big difference. Her story is also a great example of what can be achieved when dog lovers co-operate and work together.

There’s also a Christmas fiction feature. I work hard to make our Christmas fiction special and well, Christmassy! And every year my daughter says, “It’s not as good as the story about the vet.” Which is galling, but also a compliment in a way, so I never know quite how to take it! The Christmas story about the vet can be heard in Episode 8 of DogCast Radio. So if you’re in the mood for doggy, Christmassy stories, check that one out too.

I hope you and your dogs had a great Christmas, we certainly did.

Take care,

Julie x
