Battersea is pleased to see key Parliamentary report on animal welfare

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is pleased with an Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee report on the welfare of domestic pets released today, 16 November.

The issue of backstreet dog breeding is one on which Battersea has long campaigned for change, and the new report addresses this subject, making several recommendations for change. Among other things, the EFRA report calls for a licence for anyone breeding more than two litters in a year, mandatory registration for all breeders, and the licensing of everyone selling animals online.

Dogs Trust Disappointed By Government Response To Efra Report

Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, is disappointed by the Government’s response to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Efra) Committee Report on Dog Control and Welfare, published yesterday (17th April). The response to the Committee’s recommendations highlights the Government’s piecemeal approach to tackling the various issues surrounding dog control and welfare, particularly dangerous dogs.

Animal charity backs report’s criticism of Government

The RSPCA has backed criticism of the Government’s failure to properly tackle irresponsible dog ownership, made in a new House of Commons committee report.

Britain’s biggest animal charity supports many of the recommendations the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs select committee (EFRA) today made in its report on dog control and welfare.

Among the recommendations, the committee suggests the introduction of consolidated dog legislation, Dog Control Notices and tighter limits on unlicensed dog breeding.
