RSPCA urging hundreds of dogs (and their owners) to take part in BIG Walkies

The charity is hosting the Best Walk Ever! in London and Birmingham this Spring

Registrations for the RSPCA’s BIG Walkies events open online this week.

The RSPCA is hoping up to a thousand dogs will take the lead - with the help of their owners - and register to support the vital work of the country’s oldest and biggest animal welfare charity.

On May 31 this year the RSPCA’s biggest ever BIG Walkies will be coming to London and launching RSPCA Week 2015.

Dogs will take part in either a 3k or a 5k sponsored walk around the famous Alexandra Palace. A second event will take part in Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham a week later on June 7.

Allocated start times will be from 10am.

The RSPCA is asking that dogs get sponsored to raise funds for animal welfare work to help dogs and other animals less fortunate.

To register visit www.rspca.org.uk/bigwalkies and sign your dog up today.

Once you receive your fundraising pack - which includes a bandana for your four legged friend - the RSPCA are then asking you to Tweet pictures of your dog using #BigWalkies

You can keep us up to date with your dogs ‘training’ in the lead up to the big day too using the same hashtag.

Animal lovers without dogs can also take part or volunteer at the events and, some of our star rescue dogs will be there on the day to meet and get to know.

BIG Walkies Event Manager Tess Drew said: “We are really looking forward to the RSPCA Big Walkies this year as it is going to be our biggest ever.

“We really hope all our supporters and their four-legged friends come out and support us and help raise vital funds for animal welfare.

“It is going to be a brilliant day and a chance for our dogs to Take the Lead!”
